WHAT FOLLOWERDIFF NEEDS

One small part of your Instagram download.

You do not need to download your entire Instagram account. FollowerDiff only needs the Followers and following information, exported as JSON.

    Open Accounts Center

    In Instagram, open Settings and activity, then Accounts Center.

    Start a data download

    Open Your information and permissions → Download your information. If Instagram asks what you want to do next, choose the option to download or transfer your information.

    Select only the relationship data

    Choose your Instagram account, select Some of your information, then choose Followers and following.

    Use the correct export settings

    Choose Download to device, set the date range to All time, and set the format to JSON. Media quality does not matter for FollowerDiff.

    Keep the download zipped

    When Instagram finishes preparing the download, save the .zip file and upload that ZIP directly to FollowerDiff. You do not need to extract it first.

Most common mistake: Choosing HTML instead of JSON. FollowerDiff reads Instagram's JSON relationship files, so an HTML export will not work.

Instagram occasionally changes the wording or order of Accounts Center screens, but the important settings are Followers and following + All time + JSON.
